For the first post in “News”, I received the following from Glenn Kuntz on Monday, 28 Nov:
I have been working in Europe for the past two years and did not attend the reunion this year for the first time in 35 years. I went to the Oktoberfest in Munich that weekend (I think it is almost the same thing) and I raised my mug to the Class of 1970.
I just got your great new web site address from Allen Anderson, so I thought I would drop you a line.
I hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving. Although they do not celebrate Thanksgiving in Europe, the Americans had a small luncheon. I drank a glass of wine and was ready for a nap in the afternoon. Unfortunately, I was Cinderella this past week…the only one of four EU lawyers in the office. Two are on business trips and one is on leave, so I had to stay awake.
I was in Oberammergau in the Bavarian Alps for a legal conference and a little vacation November 10 – 22. While I was there it started snowing and was still snowing when I flew out of Munich Tuesday morning. Glad they are finally starting to get snow in the Alps. When I flew into Germany on 10 Nov, it was all brown on top of the Alps. Now winter has started. Unfortunately it is also snowing in Bosnia and they DON’T need it because they can’t handle snow. Although Sarajevo was the site of the 1984 winter Olympics, Bosnia in a snowstorm is like Washington, DC in a snowstorm!! Nobody knows what to do. Ugh!! Anyway, I bought new skis in Germany and am looking forward to skiing around Europe this coming winter.
While I was in Germany, I had a great lunch and visit with Bob Randle in Stuttgart. Bob was on a two-month assignment in Germany with his job at the Defense Information Services Agency….tough duty. If you think THAT was a boondogle, Bob told me he was in Hawaii ON BUSINESS all spring. Now you know where your tax dollars are going!!
Cheers,
GLENN
