From Inside VMI (link)
VMI Office of Communications & Marketing has negotiated best rates with DC101, Washington, DC’s most listened to classic rock station and Washington’s radio leader for more than 30 years to reach our potential target audience of high school age prospects in Northern Virginia with a series of VMI commercial spot announcements. DC101 blankets the greater Washington Metropolitan area and serves an audience of more than 650,000 each week on an assigned frequency of FM 101.1. The radio transmission pattern serves a contour that includes major Northern Virginia and Maryland counties: Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun, Prince Georges, from Charles county in the south to Carroll County in the north and spans the Chesapeake Bay area; area cities of Washington, D.C., Waterford, Warrenton, Baltimore, Annapolis, Fredericksburg, Springfield, Alexandria, and many more are included in the listening area. Planned are 28 VMI 30-second spots airing from 5 AM to 8 PM, beginning the week of 3 – 7 July to capture listeners involved in outdoor leisure activities and vacation travel over the holiday period. This period, called “drive time” is radio’s most influential listening time for advertising. The radio medium is the most flexible of all media and reaches listeners during work and lifestyle activities (at the beach, in the car, in the office, and on-the-road). In addition, DC101 will feature the VMI spots on the DC101 website in the form of a banner ad, and will reach nationwide Internet audiences listening to live radio through its radio streaming feature.
