Last Call for Shirts

LAST CALL!!!!!!! If you want some additional Reunion Shirts please contact Kent Schlussel. He needs a few more orders to get a deal from the supplier (see below). Hope everyone is doing well. How about our baseball team – best start ever with a couple of wins over Auburn and a shutout at Richmond.
Take care.

Bill

From: Kent & Judy Schlussel
Subject: Class of 70 Reunion Shirts
Date: Mon, 6 Mar 2006

Bill:  Could you please send one last notice to our BRs about the reunion shirt. I only got orders for eight (8) shirts. This is not quite enough to make the minimum of 12 shirts.

The shirts will be $30 plus shipping (which will not be that much) each. Same price for the men’s shirt and ladies’ shirt (which is slightly different to fit
them better). Just want to give everyone one last chance.

Thanks,

Kent Schlussel

TV Spots, Screensaver Among Marketing Efforts

The VMI Alumni Association, in an agreement with Roanoke station WSLS-TV (NBC), has begun airing television advertising in a pilot marketing program, one of many marketing initiatives planned this year.

The six ads produced by the VMI Office of Communications & Marketing for the Alumni Association are designed to reinforce the Institute’s cadet recruitment efforts and to enhance the VMI public image. The commercial spots began airing at different times in the program day beginning in late December 2005 and are scheduled to end after the NBC Winter Olympics coverage. To view the ads or download the screensaver, go here.

New Photo Album

In the email from ‘Beast’ Payne when he sent his 35th Reunion photos, he recommended that we set up a way to share our old photos from our time in the Valley. After a little time, I have now added a new photo area to our web site that uses “albums” to organize pictures. (The old reunion pages are still there, but I added all we had to the new album.) You can see part of the new addition at the top of the sidebar — it’s a random picture from the album. Continue reading

Class Notes

BR’s:

The following class notes were supposed to appear in the last edition of the Alumni Review. I was told they will be published in the next Review but that’s another 3 months past our reunion.

Hope everybody had a happy holiday. I’m looking forward to a great year in 2006 both personally (another year closer to retirement) and for VMI. Substantial improvement in our football and basketball programs are just around the corner and I think we will see the beginning of the turn around in ’06. Please keep the faith – we will be better!!
